Abstract

Sustainable Fashion Governance can be defined as the sum of actors, initiatives, instruments, standards and strategies pursuing the objective to support, to incentivize, or to force social and ecologically sustainable value creation in the textile industry. We are currently observing an increasing variety of sustainable fashion standards and initiatives. However, effectiveness and impact of many approaches to Sustainable Fashion Governance are contested. In this context, the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles is a promising sector-wide initiative. Its success depends on the serious willingness and commitment of its members, on a high-quality review process as well as on demonstrable and sustainable improvements in the supply chains of all partner firms.
