Abstract

In this study, Li1-xMnx/2TaO3 photo-electrocatalysts (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) were synthesized using the solid-state reaction. Characterization techniques including XRD, SEM-EDX, UV–visible spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy were employed. The XRD revealed rhombohedra pure phases with R3c space group. From UV–Vis analysis the band gap values range from 3.39 to 3.8 eV depending on x. Raman spectroscopy used to explain the deviation from LiTaO3 stoichiometry when inserting Mn2+. Li1-xMnx/2TaO3 system exhibited promising catalytic performance in dyes photodegradation and as cathode in MFC, achieving a power density of 370 mW m−2 and 91 % COD removal. The heavy metals elimination efficiency from wastewater was monitored.
