Abstract

AbstractAs a prospective international association, BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) plays an important role in the economic development of the world and in the achievement of UN sustainable development goals. The active pursuit of sustainable development leads to fundamental changes in lifestyles and economic relations not only in the BRICS countries, but throughout the world. This article provides an analysis of the main stages in the formation of the sustainable development concept within the UN and its impact on the formation of the BRICS sustainable development discourse. The study also identifies approaches to the implementation of several essential fields of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the BRICS countries, namely poverty alleviation, education and health, environmental protection and green economy, which are the core activities of these countries at the current stage of development. Faced with the global challenges of the financial, environmental and climate crises, as well as major qualitative changes in the scientific and technological revolutions, the BRICS is increasingly seeking to transition to sustainable development, the aim of which is to eliminate inequalities between social strata, strengthen internal stability and expand international cooperation.KeywordsBRICSUnited NationsSustainable developmentSDGsPoverty alleviationEnvironmental protectionInternational cooperation
