Abstract
The imperative of sustainable development has constantly been internationally critiqued at scholarly level and acknowledged at the juridical level, culminating in the promulgation of the seventeen United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Despite the legitimization, one of the principal impediments encountered in the concretization of sustainable development agendas in Nigeria is the enforcement conundrum. Arguably, a crystallization of effective enforcement of sustainable development is deeply intertwined with government’s re-prioritization of agendas whereupon it views social and environmental development as an integral and inseparable part of economic development.
