Abstract
Sustainable development practices are implemented by the industries to gain a competitive advantage and enable environmental protection. There are many long-term advantages of sustainable development practices that have been proved by researchers and academicians. But, there are several debates about the effectiveness of sustainable development practices among industries and researchers. Here the question that arises is what are sustainable development measurement methods and associated challenges? What are the sustainable development measurement parameters or indicators? Studies suggest that measuring sustainability is critical and there are still challenges associated with measuring the parameters. There is a lot of research that has been published so far on sustainability issues, but, there is still research lacking on the measurement of sustainability. Therefore, to fill this gap, this chapter explores and reviews the sustainability performance parameters, their measurement methods, and challenges with measurement. This chapter is a qualitative study based on a critical review of previous studies conducted on sustainability measures. The study can be beneficial for industries in reconsidering their sustainability parameters and achieving higher sustainability.
