Abstract

A sustainability model allows present needs to be met without compromising future needs. Based on this, this study shows the development of a sustainability model for the livestock sector in the Guajira department in Colombia, where an analysis is made of the most relevant factors of the business, the characteristics of the area, the livestock and how everything impacts on the development of the activity in the environment. The analysis is based on three relevant perspectives, namely the economic, social and environmental levels, which, through the methodology used, emphasize the three pillars of sustainability applied to livestock farming in order to transform the sector into an environment that is sustainable over time.
