Abstract
The growing need for sustainable fuel sources and the expanding waste management issue have prompted researchers to investigate waste-to-fuel conversion technologies. By using the potential of 100% tire oil (TO), a profitable and environmentally acceptable alternative to waste tire disposal may be realized. Tire oil utilization addresses waste management difficulties, reducing dependency on traditional fossil fuels, and minimizes environmental impacts. The study examined the pure diesel and diesel-tire oil blended fuel to examine the energy, exergy, economic, and sustainability parameters. Diesel fuel (DF), TO10 (Diesel 90%, TO 10%), TO20, TO30, TO50, TO70, and TO were used as tested fuel. Single-cylinder diesel engines with crankshaft speeds from 1500–3500 rpm in steps of 500 rpm were used for the experiments. The TO10 had the most significant energy efficiency (31.49%) and exergy efficiency (32.51%) at 2500 rpm compared to the other tested fuels. In comparison to the other studied fuels, TO demonstrated the highest sustainability index with a value of 1.48 which was more sustainable than other fuels. Based on these data, it was feasible to conclude that TO10 was the most sustainable fuel and was well-suited for diesel engines with no modification.
