Abstract

It is noted that the significant (but usually shadow) magnetic separation parameters of liquid-dispersion media (suspensions, including ceramic suspensions, for separating the disperse phase of ferro-particle impurities) are the dynamic viscosity and the density of the medium. The temperature dependences of the slip viscosity and the dispersion component of the slip (water) are compared; variants of their description in the working temperature intervals by the corresponding exponential and logarithmic functions which could be valid in other media also, including media used for other, nonindustrial, purposes, are presented. The form of such a function for slip is used in the base expressions for the efficiency and limiting rate of its filtration magnetic separation—with a convenient (in practice) validation of the slip temperature in these expressions.
