Abstract

To reduce the volume, control complexity and increase the suspension force density, a novel three degrees of freedom (3- DOF) bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM) with independent torque and suspension magnetic circuit is proposed. The 3-DOF suspension is realized in one unit, which shortens the axial length. Firstly, the structure and working principle are introduced. Then, the mathematical model of suspension force is deduced by equivalent magnetic circuit method. Finally, the suspension performance is analyzed by the software MagNet 3D. The simulation results are carried out to verify the correctness of the structure, suspension mechanism, and mathematical models of the BSRSM.
