Abstract

A novel approach to design a wide stopband low pass filter in ‘suspended substrate stripline (SSS) - microstrip (MS)’ based mixed substrate topology is reported in this article. Design is based on an odd degree low pass lumped elliptic nature prototype. It satisfies generalized Chebyshev response whose three transmission zeroes are at infinity and (n-3) at a finite frequency $(\pm \omega 0$) is considered as basic circuit. Direct Richard’s transformation is applied to transform lumped elements to its equivalent distributed elements. Although preliminary simulation is carried out in $2~{}^{1}\!\!\diagup\!\!{}_{2}\;\text{D}$ design simulation tool, but final layout simulations are done in 3D full wave EM simulation tool. Measured results of proposed filter are found in good agreement with the simulation response.
