Abstract

Five hyphomycetes, a hyphochytrid and a chytrid, previously known to parasitize spores of certain oomycetes, were tested in two-membered cultures with oospores of Phytophthora cinnamomi and with oospores and chlamydospores of P. parasitica on agar or in soil. Evidence of parasitism of P. cinnamomi by Humicola fuscoatra, Anguillospora pseudolongissima, and Hyphochytrium catenoides was observed. Spores of neither Phytophthora species were invaded by Dactylella spermatophaga, Diheterospora chlamydosporia, Gliocladium virens or Phlyctochytrium sp.
