Abstract

Abstract Susceptibility of a range of winter flowering annuals to root-knot nematode was determined from field and pot experiments. Data on per cent root-knot infestation, extent of galling and gall size were recorded. Annuals were divided into three categories, i.e., those which did not show infestation in either the field or in pots, those which showed a mild infestation in pots but not in the field, and those which showed infestation in both field and pot conditions. The data suggest that resistant annuals should be rotated and one type should not be planted in the same place year after year. Rotating a resistant annual with vegetables will control the nematode population.
