Abstract

The zero-field magnetic susceptibilities of polycrystalline samples as well as oriented single crystals of [Cu(C5H5NO)6](BF4)2 are reported. Broad maxima are observed in all the data, but the existence of domains with threefold symmetry prevents the establishment of an easy axis. The data have been compared to the high-temperature series expansions and the Schwinger boson mean-field theory for the square lattice, S= (1)/(2) , Heisenberg antiferromagnet.
