Abstract

Susan Koch is associate professor of gerontic nursing and director of research and higher degrees in the division of nursing and midwifery at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. She is also director of the Australian Centre for Evidence-Based Aged Care. Her research has focused on restraint use, quality indicators and standards in aged care, elder abuse and medication management. Dr Koch was made a fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia, in 2000 in recognition of her contribution to gerontic nursing. She is also a fellow of the Australian Association of Gerontology and president of Alzheimer's Australia (Victoria).
