Abstract
TS2-08 Abstract: Studies of Japanese atomic bomb survivors have provided considerable information on the long-term health effects of radiation exposure in a population of all ages and both genders who were exposed to a wide range of doses. Of particular note have been the dose–response analyses conducted for various cancer types that have considered the modifying effects of factors such as age and time. Although more than 60 years have passed since the bombings, continued follow up of the survivors will be important to learn more about the lifetime risks from exposure at young ages and what might be the risks of noncancer diseases at relatively low doses. This presentation summarizes key findings and open questions associated with these studies.
