Abstract

Survivin, a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein family that takes part in cell division and apoptosis, and plays a pivotal role in determining cell survival. It is one of the most tumorspecific genes in the human genome and is associated with a poor clinical outcome. Survivin has attracted growing attention as a promising target for tumor therapy. This article reviews the molecular biology and function of survivin, and its significance in tumor diagnosis and treatment. Key words: Survivin ; Tumor ; Prognosis ; Treatment ; RNA interference
