Abstract

Summary and Conclusions The influenzal viruses (PR8 and S15 strains) were found to be readily inactivated when subjected to ordinary procedures for protein fractionation. For purposes of storage, virus cultivated in a medium containing the tissue of chick embryo (PR8 virus) was found to be more stable than virus from influenzal mouselungs. The results indicate that, for prolonged periods of storage, it is preferable to dry the cultured virus by the lyophile process in the presence of gum-acacia.
