Abstract

The aim of this study to determine survival probability of breast cancer patients with survival analysis and factors related to survival of breast cancer patients such as: tumor size, clinical stage, metastasis history, comorbidities, age and therapy types. This study was used observational analytic study with cohort design. The data collected were medical record data of breast cancer patients diagnosed in Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, Ibn Sina Hospital, TK II Pelamonia Hospital and Islam Faisal Makassar Hospital from 2012 until 2016 since first diagnosed. The medical data were tumor size, clinical stage, metastasis history, age, comorbidities and therapy types. The breast cancer risk factors were independent variables and survival breast cancer patients as dependent variable. Total samples number were 156 breast cancer cases by used probability sampling technique with simple random sampling. The survival probability of breast cancer patients for 53 months was 59.5%. There was a significant relationship between tumor size, clinical stage, metastasis history, comorbidities and therapy types with survival probability of breast cancer patients. Meanwhile, there was no relationship between age and survival probability of breast cancer patients in several Makassar city hospitals in 2012-2016. Nevertheless, primary determinant of survival probability of breast cancer patients was clinical stage (HR=3.350) and comorbidities (HR=3.200).
