Abstract

Gross alpha and beta activity, activity concentration of 226Ra, 228Ra and 40K and 137Cs in Bosna River water and sediment samples were determined in order to estimate the environment pollution and to assess the possible impacts of radionuclides to water quality. In water samples, activity concentrations of 3H were determined as well. The maximum values for gross alpha and beta activities in river water were 55 ± 10 and 342 ± 59 mBq L−1, respectively, hence, below the limit values specified by WHO for drinking water. The results obtained in this study can be used as a baseline for setting future targets.
