Abstract

Objective To explore the status of depression, automatic thoughts and their personality of gastric cancer patients with post-operative chemotherapy. Methods A total of 144 postoperative chemotherapy gastric cancer patients were tested by self-rating depression scale (SDS), the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Short Scale for Chinese version (EPQ-RSC), automatic thoughts questionnaire (ATQ). Results The overall depression scores of postoperative chemotherapy gastric cancer patients were (43.04 ± 8.94), higher than the national norm(t = 12. 86,P <0. 01); Compared with non-depression group, the depression group had higher scores in ATQ and lower scores in EPQ-N (t = -2. 897,4. 919,P<0. 01); the depression scores of emotional stability group higher than emotional instability group (F = 11. 234, P < 0. 01). Conclusions Assessment of personality and ATQ of gastric cancer patients treated with chemotherapy after operation could improve their depressive mood and provide instructions for targeted nursing interventions.
