Abstract

A possibility of using surrogate model for fast determining weld depth in multi-parametric hybrid laser welding process (laser welding with induction preheating) is studied. The dependence of weld depth on laser beam power and velocity of its movement is investigated. For selected combinations of laser power and speed, FEM simulations of 3D coupled problem combining heat transfer and electromagnetic field are performed. The surrogate model is then created based on results allowing to predict depth for any combination of power and speed. Main motivation to use surrogate modeling technique is to substantially save the computational time.
