Abstract

Objective To investigate the surgical methods and outcomes of avulsion fractures and intraarticular fractures of the hand. Methods Twenty-six intra-articular fractures of the hand in 26 patients were treated with mini anchor and/or fragment pin from October 2006 to December 2008 in our hospital.Applications and results of these types of fractures were analyzed. Results Postoperative follow-up ranged from 2 months to23 months.Bone union was achieved in all cases after 2 months.Range of motion of the involved metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints was good. Conclusion Satisfactory treatment results can be obtained by mini anchor and/or fragment pin fixation in dorsal or volar avulsion fractures and intra-articular fractures of the hand. This method is simple and effective in fixation of the fractures.
