Surgical technique utilized to trans-vaginally remove a foreign body from the bladder

Abstract

The objective of this video is to demonstrate surgical tips and technique used to remove foreign body from the bladder - 81y old presented with chronic pelvic pain and rUTI - H/O of trans-vaginal mesh (Uphold) in 2010 followed by pelvic pain - She subsequently had vaginal re exploration with partial mesh removal which was complicated by cystotomy in 2012 - She had been complaining of rUTI and chronic pelvic pain since then - Office cystoscopy showed mesh erosion into the bladder - Patient scheduled for surgical exploration for mesh removal -While there are some data that support partial mesh excision through pain mapping the mesh, we believe better results are achieved with wide and possible complete mesh excision for complete resolution of pain
