The French mountains are one of the top destinations for skiing and generate an important tourist flow during the winter season [1]. Mass tourism in mountainous areas is associated with the accumulation of people experiencing trauma caused by winter sport activities [2,3,4,5]. Such clustering of injuries can lead to increased emergency admissions at hospitals due to influxes of patients requiring acute surgical—primarily orthopedic—care [6]. The advent of the winter sports season has been associated with increases in the volume of surgical procedures provided to both local and non-local populations. Mass tourism during winter in mountain areas may cause significant clustering of body injuries leading to increasing emergency admissions at hospital. We aimed at assessing if surgical safety and efficiency was maintained in this particular context
