Abstract

Surgical risk factors for perioperative complications in lung transplantation are still under discussion. Therefore type of incision (anterolateral musclesparing vs. posterolateral for SLTX and bilateral anterolateral vs. clamshell for BLTX), use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and prior thoracic surgical procedures (LVRS, lobectomy, wedge resection) were investigated for perioperative mortality, need for reoperation for bleeding and severe bronchial complications.
