Abstract

Background. Hepatic resection (HR) is still considered the treatment of choice for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) on liver cirrhosis. Radiofrequency ablation (RA) is a new emerging modality under laparoscopic access [ [1] Santambrogio R. Opocher E. Costa M. Montorsi M. Survival and intra-hepatic recurrences after laparoscopic radiofrequency of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with liver cirrhosis. J Surg Oncol. 2005; 89: 218-226 Crossref PubMed Scopus (43) Google Scholar ]. Aim of the study is to compare two groups of patients submitted to either surgical resection or laparoscopic RA analysing long-term survival and intra-hepatic recurrences.
