Abstract

A case of transverse facial cleft in a 9-year-old girl has been presented. Treatment consisted of excision of excess skin, vermilion, and mucosa, layer closure of mucosa and muscle, and a flap of vermilion and skin rotated from the lower lip to the upper lip. The etiology, incidence, clinical characteristics, and surgical treatment of this condition have been reviewed. A postoperative keloid which developed was treated by injections of triamcinolone acetonide with favorable response. The patient's inability to continue with treatment resulted in a compromised final outcome.
