Abstract

In neuropathology, there are excellent general texts and monographs on tumors, but it is not easy to find information on the pathologic background of other neurosurgical conditions. This volume is planned to fill the needs of general pathologists, neuroradiologists, and clinicians in dealing with such lesions. The aim is achieved admirably, and in doing so, the authors have also produced a valuable reference for neuropathologists, especially in resident training. The arrangement is topographic, with chapters on skull, brain, spine, spinal cord, and peripheral nerve, with special sections on the sella turcica and on cerebral biopsy in patients with dementia. The authors have kept the repetition inherent in this arrangement to a minimum by giving one major presentation of each lesion, with cross references when the lesion occurs in another location.
