Abstract
This series of obstetric-related trauma represents only a small proportion (15%) of patients. The management of rectovaginal fistulae was largely dictated by the underlying aetiology with surgical intervention offering a potential cure in the majority. This often necessitated colonic defunctioning and subsequent repair in a staged procedure. Complete resolution with minimal morbidity may be achieved in 77% of these cases.
