A keloid can be described as an excessive development of dense and fibrous tissue that occurs during the healing process of a skin injury. Most often occur on the chest, shoulders, upper back, back of the neck, and earlobes. Despite decades of research, the pathophysiology of keloids remains incompletely understood.
