Abstract

Objective To revievw the clinical characteistic and surgical exdperience of congenital tracheoesophageal or bronchoesophageal fistulas in the sdult.Methods The 14 patients underwent surgical treatment from 1969 to October2007 were reviewed.The most frequent site of communication was between the lower esophagus and the lower lobe of the lung.A fistulectomy,with or without pulmonary resection,was performed on each patient.Results All patients had complete relie of symptoms.There was no perioperative death.Conclusio Congenital tracheoesophageal or bronchoesophageal fistulas in the adult could be diagnosed by esophagogrepay,and or bronchoscopy.The surgical intervention is realtively simple and has good results.
