Abstract

Dislocation of temporomandibular joint has become a commonest disorder. Although most recent reports have focused on surgical management to achieve functional improvement, discussion on appropriate treatment is ever expanding. Distraction osteogenesis has been identified as an alternative to bone grafting. The importance of distraction osteogenesis is related to its simplicity and relatively low morbidity compared to other surgical procedures. This study deals with the application of a combination of Norman's procedure and Ilizarov technique to correct the temporomandibular joint dislocation with successful results.
