Abstract

m u r t ( s a s D b m w ibrous dysplasia of the jaw causes painless swelling and isplacement of teeth, which results in facial asymmetry that auses distress to some patients. This can usually be remedied y resection. However, in some cases total resection of an xtensive lesion is not possible, and partial resection is the nly reasonable way to restore a symmetrical appearance.1 In unilateral fibrous dysplasia it is difficult to obtain an aeshetically pleasing result because the margin is unspecified, o navigation devices and software programs for simulation ave been used.2,3 Unfortunately, simulation is not real, and avigation devices are expensive, so we used stereolithoraphy to create a surgical guide. This has already been ntroduced for complete resections, and can provide tactile ense to surgeons.4 We then used the surgical guide on a atient with unilateral fibrous dysplasia to make the appearnce symmetrical after a partial resection. The patient presented in June 2013 with facial asymmetry, hich was obvious on the preoperative 3-dimensisonal view
