Abstract

Surgical clip migration into the common bile duct, leading to stone formation, is a rare but well established complication of cholecystectomy. To our knowledge, this is the first report describing such stone formation in the gallbladder remnant. A 41-year-old woman presented with colic-like, right upper quadrant abdominal pain. She had had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed 14 years earlier. Her laboratory test results revealed a minimally elevated aspartate aminotransferase level at 50 U/L (normal 15-46 U/L) but were otherwise normal.
