Abstract

In spite of the twin spurs of war and civil disaster to the study of burns we are still far from a complete understanding of the changes in the body tissues, the body fluids and electrolytes that result from a severe burn. In the past few years, however, many workers in our own and other countries have made helpful contributions to the solution of this difficult problem and have made the entire medical profession increasingly aware of its importance.
