Abstract

espite the usual benignity of pulmonary histoplasmosis, chronic progressive cavitary pulmonary histoplasmosis is a deadly disD ease. One-third of such untreated patients are dead from it within four years [l, 51. Drug therapy alone may reduce such mortality to 15% [5]. This is a review of 24 patients with chronic progressive cavitary pulmonary histoplasmosis treated by a combination of surgery and chemotherapy.
