Abstract

(Abstracted from Am J Obstet Gynecol 2023;229(4):460–462) During periurethral and vulvar procedures, thorough knowledge of clitoral anatomy is imperative to ensure the preservation of the autonomic and somatic nerves. This reduces chances of postoperative clitoral pain, sexual dysfunction, and decreased sensation, as entrapment and compression of these nerves during surgical procedures have been observed to likely cause such dysfunction.
