Abstract
The adsorption of mixtures from anionic and non-ionic surfactants on scheelite and calcite was tested with different physicochemical methods to determine the amounts adsorbed, the adsorption heats and the electrophoretic mobilities in dependence on surfactant concentration. The results show that in addition to the adsorption of anionic and non-ionic surfactants on the surface of the mineral, the formation of calcium surfactant salts in the mineral suspension should also be taken into account. The precipitation of calcium salts seems to be clearly reduced by the addition of non-ionic surfactants. As proved by flotation tests, the recovery and selectivity are thus increased with reduced collector dosage when the collector mixtures are used.
