Abstract
We construct a new family of simply connected minimal complex surfaces of general type with <TEX>$p_g$</TEX> = 1, <TEX>$q$</TEX> = 0, and <TEX>$K^2$</TEX> = 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 using a <TEX>$\mathbb{Q}$</TEX>-Gorenstein smoothing theory.
