Abstract

With supporting back conductor present, a coplanar waveguide is leaky in the lower frequency range. The effect of this nearby back conductor on the surface wave leakage of a coplanar waveguide is investigated for the design of appropriate supporting structures. Various physical parameters are used to fully understand its effect. It is shown that the propagation characteristics of the original coplanar waveguide is unaffected with the back conductor placed a few multiples of the dielectric thickness away.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
