Abstract
Adding micro-Al 2 O 3 to the epoxy resin can effectively improve the compositematerials' dielectric properties. In order to enhance the bonding of filler and matrix, silane coupling agent is usually used to be the modifier to deal with the surface of micro-Al 2 O 3 . Whereas coupling agent can make the particles produce agglomeration. Then the modification of low temperature plasma comes up in this article. In the experiment, Al 2 O 3 treated by coupling agent is placed in atmospheric pressure and low-temperature plasma produced by dielectric barrier discharge and treated for some time. By using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), the surface morphology, chemical groups and elemental contents of different samples were compared and analyzed. The results show that the introduction of the plasma surface modification technology can effectively modify the micro-Al 2 O 3 . The results obtained in this paper can provide a new technical means for the surface modification of Al 2 O 3 filler in epoxy resin.
