Abstract

Platinum-copper alloys, prepared by standard metallurgical techniqus, cleaned and annealed in ultra high vacuum, were analyzed by Auger Electron Spectroscopy. The surface segregation of Cu was found to be only moderate. In the calculations of the surface composition from the Auger spectra Gallon's model was used, whereby corrections were made for differences in the back-scattering coefficients and the different matrix densities of both metals.
