Abstract

In the present AES-LEED-TDS study, the surface reactivity of the borided Pd(111) sample exposed to H 2, C 2H 2 or C 2H 4 at 300 K was investigated. Quantitative AES surface analysis allowed determination of the concentration of boron. Interaction of hydrogen and the hydrocarbons with clean and borided Pd(111) surfaces has been compared. The results were interpreted in terms of the catalytic role of surface boron on palladium.
