Abstract
The placement of a metal screen 1 to 2 mm above a nonconducting sample has proven to increase the effectiveness of an electron flood gun for charge control in XPS and has led to better resolution and reproducibility. This paper will contain a description of the method, a model that explains the behavior observed and some examples.
