Abstract

For uniaxial PbTiO 3 and BaTiO 3 the upper two surface polariton dispersion curves were measured by attenuated total reflection. Comparison to calculated curves is based on data for the dielectric function which were derived from a Kramers-Kronig analysis of reflectivity spectra. The highest dispersion branch in BaTiO 3 is strongly influenced by interaction of the surface polariton with two phonon bands.
