Abstract

In the paper, we investigated experimentally the optical properties of disordered and binary ordered separated metal nanoparticle arrays prepared with thermal decomposing polymer particles based on self-assemble polystyrene sphere masks. The disordered metal nanoparticles and binary ordered separated metal nanoparticles with controllable size were prepared under different conditions. The size of metal nanoparticles can be effectively controlled from 200nm to 800nm. The intrinsic resonant properties of disordered or ordered Au nanoparticles arrays are not affected by the density or size of nanoparticles. However, the binary ordered Au nanoparticles arrays could exhibit tunable surface plasmonic resonance bands from the visible region to the near-infrared region by adjusting the size of nanoparticles. The plasmonic mechanism of these novel structures implies a promising application in surface plasmonic enhanced spectra.
