Abstract

Homogeneous films of magnetite and gold nanoparticles have been deposited on glass substrates as initial prototypes for biosensors in solid phase. The controlled deposition of homogeneous layers of magnetite (10 nm average diameter) and gold (15 nm average diameter) onto planar substrates, exploiting the layer-by-layer self-assembly of nanoparticles and polyelectrolytes, have allowed the study of the interaction between the magnetic properties of the iron oxide nanoparticles and the surface phenomenon of gold nanoparticles known as surface plasmon band.
