Abstract

In the analysis of insulating materials with the IMA, the electrostatic charge accumulated on the specimen surface may interrupt the detection of the secondary ions. In the present report, it is described that the interruption can be effectively prevented by use of a low energy electron gun, permitting to detect the secondary ions steadily and to observe the secondary ion images from the insulating materials.
