Abstract

The surface-modified H-titanate nanotubes (HTNT) by various straight chain carboxylic acids were prepared and characterized by TEM, XRD, FTIR, TG and ARXPS techniques. The ARXPS technique was used to investigate the bonding forms of carboxylic group with the surfaces of HTNT for the first time. Combined with the analysis of FTIR spectra, it was found that the bonding forms were different for various surface-modified HTNT, parts of all were co-existence of monodentate and bidentate modes, and others were only monodentate mode. In addition, the PL efficiency of various surface-modified HTNT was also different. It was deduced that the PL intensity was related with bonding forms.
