Abstract

The phase diagrams and magnetization curves of the semi-infinite spin-1/2 Ising ferromagnet with decorated spin-S (S>1/2) atoms on the surface are investigated within the framework of the effective-field theory. In particular, the magnetic properties are numerically examined for the ferrimagnetically ordered surface. We find many characteristic phenomena, such as the possibility of two compensation points on the surface with spin-1 decorated atoms.
